One extended journey through the Australian Coast has been cancelled in the wake of the fatal incident of an elderly lady who was left behind by the ship on a remote coastal location.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the tropical location with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the excursion for a break. The liner left without her and came back later that day after the ship staff became aware the woman was not present.

An extensive rescue mission found her remains the following day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the event, together with law enforcement and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the shipping company stated that travelers and crew on the ship were informed that the continuation of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "tragic passing and prior engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he further stated that passengers would be issued a total repayment, and said the company was working "to organize the homeward trips of the individuals via chartered flights".

Officials also released an revised announcement, and said they had "delivered a notice to the Captain" preventing any further travelers from getting on the liner.

The representative said that they would attend the ship in Cairns upon its arrival.

The liner originally sailed from the coastal city on the 24th of October, and was merely two days into the voyage at the time of the elderly woman's demise. The remote island was the first stop on the journey.

Passengers on the ship - who typically pay large sums of dollars to join the expedition - were transported there for a shore visit with the choice of walking or underwater exploration.
